Outreach

I am passionate about showing school children how exciting the subject of Computer Science is. I instigated and am the current co-ordinator of an outreach program entitled 'Inside the Machine' which is designed to spark children's interest in Computer Science at an early age. The program comprises a set of workshops and lectures. More information can be found here.

Postgraduate Conference for Computing: Applications and Theory (PCCAT)

Last year I helped set up and co-chair PCCAT 2010. Hosted by the University of Exeter, PCCAT aims to bring together postgraduate researchers from the South West whose research focuses on an application or theoretical aspect of computing. The event enables research links to be identified and gives the opportunity to postgraduates to present and gain feedback on their research in a friendly environment. This year I have been a member of the steering committe for thsi conference.

Music

I am a keen musician and play the double bass and flute in many groups both within and outside the university.
